VEGAN WEEK 2: SO THAT'S WHAT THEY MEAN BY AN "UNHEALTHY VEGAN?"

(designed by Clarissa Nicole)

One of the reasons I decided to go vegan was to be healthier. I assumed, and rightfully so, that vegans were automatically healthier because their diet was mainly vegetables and fruit. What the heck else are the eating?

Fries.
Processed food.
Vegan Ice Cream that isn’t healthy, but tastes really good.
Did I mention fries?
Sodas.

Though I’m not a soda person, I am a fries person, and this week I had fries…twice. Ugh.

There’s also the processed foods. I have gluten free/vegan frozen pizza in the freezer, gf/vegan waffles for a quick breakfast and soy patties waiting to be cooked just in case I get that, “I need a burger now,” feeling. The ingredients for the most part aren’t awful, but there’s some that I can’t pronounce, and that’s a sign I shouldn’t make that a major part of my diet.

Vegan Ice Cream: I discovered ice cream made from almond milk and it’s delicious, which is dangerous and thus, I don’t buy it anymore (it’s also expensive).

Soda: Most sodas are vegan friendly (or) don’t come from an animal source. Yay! But sodas are bad for you and have a lot of sugar and make you feel bloated and…don’t mind me, I’m just trying to keep telling myself there’s a reason I stopped drinking it in the first place.

My point is simply this: I still have to work hard to make sure I’m eating healthy. I’m learning to make my vegan diet more plant based and as “organic” as possible.

Noted.
